One Small Step
I believe that God has called each of us to the work that we do, whether it is in an office or in our home. It is really easy to approach our work in a selfish manner. Our job can become all about us and what we want to get out of it. Maybe it’s a paycheck. Maybe it’s a promotion. Maybe it’s a bigger house or a better car. Rarely do we approach our job as a place where God wants to interact with and through us to bring His kingdom to earth, but I believe that is exactly what He wants to do.
Up Next: Failure
Failure is one of the only things that every single person has in common. We have all experienced failure in our lifetime, and we are destined to experience it again before we die. Failure is just a part of life. No one likes it, but we all experience it. It has existed since the beginning of time, and scripture is full of accounts of failures from the Garden to the grave.
But You Already Said Yes
Pastor Doug flipped the script on us Sunday morning. Instead of continuing to answer the question about why we need to be in a group/community, he posed a different question. He asked why our group/community needs us. This can be a hard question to answer. I mean, no one wants to come across as arrogant right? At the same time, everyone desires to be needed at some level.
Just Do It
Finding and getting into a community is so important, but can be really difficult sometimes. It may take more than one try to find the right one for you. It usually requires stepping outside of your comfort zone again and again. It may be tempting to just give up if it doesn’t work out the first time, but we have to remember that God has not called us into a life of comfort. He has called us into community with Him and with others, and finding community is worth stepping outside our comfort zones for over and over again.
Community is Key
We started a new series this week about the importance of being in community with others. The idea of community can be scary for some people. New people. Will they accept you? Will they like you? Will they be nice to you? It can be very stressful, and you may wonder if it is even worth the effort.
